EDGECAM to Show New Workflow at HaasTec 2013
EDGECAM, a global leader in CAM solutions for solids machining, will use their seminar session at HaasTec 2013 to demonstrate the software’s next generation user interface – Workflow.
Workflow guides the user through the programming process in four easy and quick steps – part setup, feature creation, toolpath creation, and post processing. This streamlined and automated approach gives dramatic savings in programming time. EDGECAM will be presenting Workflow during their HaasTec Seminar Session on Wednesday, April 10 at 4:00pm PST.
EDGECAM’s participation in the HaasTec exhibition further demonstrates a continuing support of Haas’ technology, machine tools and customers. HaasTec 2013 will take place at Haas’ headquarters, 2800 Sturgis Road, Oxnard, California from April 9 – 12.
As well as Workflow, EDGECAM will showcase more of their latest features and updates, including their recently added library of 33 verified post processors supporting the Haas VF series of 3-axis milling machines. In addition to the post processor, EDGECAM provides machine graphics for simulation purposes for each post, assisting the programmer to visualize the machining process and avoid collisions. EDGECAM’s new posts have been written in consultation with Haas and are aimed at supporting all functions of the machine. Developers also intend to produce posts for 4 & 5-axis VF mills and Haas lathes.
Demonstrations of other enhancements in EDGECAM 2013 R1 that give added value for all users, will include:
• The industry-leading Waveform Roughing cycle, which now has the ability to specify a pre-drilled hole as the approach type, ensuring a smoother transition into the material, reducing the cycle time even further.
• A new “Tube” stock type has been added, and the user can now edit stock dimensions and re-pick geometry while retaining the stock shape. Changes to the stock are now considered automatically when regenerating the machining instructions.
• Further enhancements have been made to the EDGECAM Simulator, enabling the simulation process to rewind to a previous position in the machining sequence.
• Toolpaths are now generated much faster thanks to a new 5-axis 64-bit machining engine running as a separate process, utilising multiple core technology. Background processing of milling cycles in the Mill/Turn environment is now available, meaning the user can carry on working while EDGECAM calculates complex toolpaths.
