Vero Software to Feature Three Brands at Okuma Winter Showcase Dec. 5-6, Charlotte, North Carolina

Vero Software will exhibit its efficiency-boosting EDGECAM, SURFCAM and WORKNC computer-aided-manufacturing (CAM) solutions Dec. 5-6, when Okuma hosts its Okuma Winter Showcase at the Partners in THINC and Okuma America headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The event, which will feature the latest CNC developments, machine tools, and live-cutting demonstrations, will highlight how to apply innovative manufacturing technologies to raise efficiency for maximum profitability.

Visitors will see firsthand how Okuma collaborates with industry partners in its Partners in THINC program to ensure that its products work in seamless combination with other vital technologies. As a member of the Partners in THINC program, Vero Software is committed to working closely with Okuma to ensure that mutual customers yield the benefits of expertly paired CAM software and machinery.

Among Vero technologies highlighted at the event will be the specialized Waveform machining cycle and tombstone management, both of which will be demonstrated on an Oku-ma MA500II Horizontal Machining Center.

Developed to unlock the full potential of machine tools, the Waveform roughing strategy is designed for the rapid removal of large amounts of material. The cycle ensures that tool engagement with the material remains consistent and that a constant volume of material is removed. The cycle also allows heat to dissipate evenly instead of being concentrated into one area and trapped, which extends tool life and significantly limits breakage.

Smooth Waveform toolpath avoids sharp changes in direction, which maintains the machine tool’s velocity. It also maintains a constant load on cutting tools by machining from the stock material towards the part geometry. This approach results in a reduced number of intermittent cutting movements, especially in the outer areas, which means that the tool remains engaged in the material for as long as possible.

Vero’s tombstone technology is designed to assist with the assembly of pre-existing parts on a defined mounting device — such as a tombstone or dowel plate. A simple dialog window enables users to add pre-machined part files and specify the positions in which they will be mounted on the multi-component work-holding device.  Once assembled, the software automatically merges and rationalizes all machining sequences by tool or index position and optimizes the NC output into sub-routines.
