EDGECAM Workflow To Feature At Largest Show

The exciting new functionality in EDGECAM 2014 R2, which begins to show how Workflow will become the default method for using the game-changing software, will be highlighted at North America’s largest manufacturing technology exhibition – IMTS, from September 8 to 13.

Part of the Vero Software Group, EDGECAM Workflow’s unparalleled ease-of-use and sophisticated toolpath generation provides a one-stop solution for milling, turning and mill-turn machining. It is specifically designed for manufacturers to reduce costs, improve quality and achieve shorter lead times.

Because the system understands the component topology and the required manufacturing environment, toolpath generation is accelerated. EDGECAM Workflow has a significant impact on shortening programming time, and because it is simple to operate the learning curve for new users is considerably reduced.

Visitors to the Vero booth – E-3114 at the McCormick Place complex in Chicago – will see for themselves that EDGECAM Workflow represents a significant change in the way that manufacturers use CAM software to program their CNC machines.

The new and enhanced functionality available in EDGECAM 2014, which will be on show at the exhibition, includes:

  • EDGECAM Workflow becomes the default method for using EDGECAM. Significant enhancements to EDGECAM include 2D to 3D for Part Modeler, EDGECAM Workflow Solids and Adveon integration, representing some of the important aspects in the latest release of EDGECAM software, enhancing EDGECAM Workflow to a new level of capability.
  • 2D to 3D for Part Modeler: This ensures old 2D legacy design data can be used in EDGECAM Workflow without the need for total part re-modelling. A 2D drawing can be converted automatically into a 3D model quickly and accurately by simply selecting the views and tracing the part outline.
  • EDGECAM Workflow Solids (EWS): Offers a fast and simplistic approach to creating simple 3D solid models, delivering standard modelling functions such as extrude, revolve and blend, supported by parametric sketching. An interactive story board means users can remodel and edit the original design by quickly selecting the process to be edited and re-applying the changes.
  • Adveon integration: EDGECAM 2014 R2 is the first CAD/CAM platform to integrate the Sandvik Coromant Adveon™ Tool Library. Adveon is a single tool library, managing tools from a number of manufacturers, and guarantees accurate geometrical information. While the engineer’s input is reduced, users can rapidly build tooling databases and have access to 3D CAD models for accurate simulation and visualisation.
